How The Estate Blossomed

2014

The Roots

The idea for Windmill Retreat took root. Nick, our creative owner, had a vision for a luxury holiday destination nestled into the Somerset Levels. Inspired by and founded in nature.

2015

The First Lodges

Windmill Retreat originally opened with four open-plan lodges and an apartment. Millstone, Millers Rest, Allwynds, Levels View and Sail Loft. We welcomed the first guests in 2015.

2017

The Levels Country Kitchen Opens

In 2017 along came The Levels Country Kitchen to the site. A cafe for lodge guests and locals alike to enjoy. Open seven days a week serving dishes using locally-sourced ingredients.

2018

Elements Boutique Spa Opens

Three years after the first lodges, Elements Boutique Spa was born - five treatment rooms and spa facilities. The spa became an attraction for people all over Somerset, a one of a kind boutique offering.

2022

Horizon View Lodges

In 2022 we built a further three, 6-berth lodges, naming them Horizon View. Sitting on the brow of the hill, they enjoy private hot tubs and beautiful views.

2025

The Spa Suites

2025 saw the creation of Elements Suites, our five adults-only, luxurious spa suites. Offering peaceful stays in nature. Enjoy a night in Mint, Lavender, Thyme, Sage or Rosemary and enjoyed unparalleled views of the Somerset Levels.
