Tree planting at Windmill Retreat, Spa & Estate

At Windmill Retreat, Spa & Estate, our connection to nature is at the heart of everything we do. Nestled among the rolling Somerset countryside, we are privileged to be surrounded by sweeping views, fresh air, and a rich rural landscape – a setting we are deeply committed to protecting and enhancing for generations to come.

Our commitment
to nature

As part of our ongoing sustainability promise, we’ve embarked on a long-term tree-planting initiative across the Estate, with more than 2,500 native trees planted onsite since 2015. Carefully selected species are enriching biodiversity, providing natural habitats for wildlife, and ensuring our landscape continues to flourish. Each tree represents renewal - growing stronger year after year, much like the memories created here.

Guests visiting the Estate can see these plantings taking root around the lodges, spa gardens, and walking trails, creating shaded pathways, seasonal colour, and a sense of calm that complements our wellness philosophy. Beyond their beauty, these trees play a vital role in supporting clean air, absorbing carbon, and nurturing the soil.

Proud partners
with Ecologi

Our sustainability efforts extend beyond our own grounds. Elements Boutique Spa, part of Windmill Retreat Estate, proudly partners with Ecologi – a certified B Corp organisation dedicated to tackling the climate crisis through global reforestation and carbon reduction projects. Through this partnership, we contribute to the planting of trees and verified carbon avoidance initiatives around the world, helping to create a tangible, lasting environmental impact.

By investing in tree planting, both locally and globally, we’re investing in the future of our Estate, our community, and our planet. Whether you’re soaking in the spa garden, enjoying the view from your suite balcony, or exploring the nearby countryside, you’ll feel the positive impact of this ever-growing woodland legacy.
